Covid-19 Update – April 23/2020
As of today, we are happy to say that Grand View Manor DOES NOT have any residents or staff identified with Covid-19.
With continued Covid prevention and control developments coming from Public Health, the Department of Health and the Health Authority, our dedicated team remains diligent in implementing the most up to date recommendations and policies.
As we have recently seen with LTC predominantly in the news media, Grand View Manor has taken steps to swab residents that have developed any NEW symptoms as per direction from Public Health. In addition, we are screening staff upon arrival and staff continue to wear masks during their entire shift. Grand View Manor continues to order PPE equipment to ensure that both staff and residents are protected from Covid-19.
Each recreation staff member is assigned to a specific unit where residents are being engaged in cognitive, physical, social and spiritual activities either one on one or in groups of no more than five (including the staff member). Appropriate social distancing is being maintained when in these small groups and we have found creative and safe ways to continue with some of the resident’s favorite activities. We are working hard to ensure residents have access to materials and resources to use independently while also adhering to infection control policies (i.e. not sharing equipment). Recreation staff are also helping residents to stay connected to their loved ones virtually through the use of technology. Recreation has worked to ensure that the iPads on every Unit are up and running so that Residents and families can connect.
Staff in the dietary department are working hard in order to prepare and ensure that all meals are delivered to the Residents on their respective Unit, as the main dining room is closed due to the limitation of having groups of no more than 5 people. The staff have worked hard to come up with creative ways to ensure that the Residents can still interact with one another yet remain social distanced during mealtimes.
At this time we would like to acknowledge the following businesses and individuals for the kind donation that were made to Grand View Manor. These donations are greatly appreciated and help to support resident and staff safety:
